Built to be specified.
Everything architects, interior designers, and development teams need to put FlowStone in the drawing set: performance data, compliance documents, process, and support.
The system, on paper.
We publish the numbers. Every value below names the test that produced it, and the source reports live in the document library on this page.
| Property | Result | Standard |
|---|---|---|
| Fire Rating | Class A: 0 flame spread, 0 smoke developed | ASTM E84 |
| In plain English: zero and zero are the best values the ASTM E84 tunnel test records. The surface contributed no flame spread and no smoke. | ||
| Slip Resistance | 0.70 dry, 0.65 wet | ANSI A326.3 |
| Coefficient of Friction | 0.85, ADA compliant | MIL-D-24613 |
| In plain English: the surface keeps its grip in dry and wet conditions and meets the accessibility bar for barrier-free interiors. | ||
| Tensile Strength | 4,100 psi | ASTM D638 |
| Bond to Concrete | 2,250 psi | ASTM C297 |
| Hardness | 75 Shore D | ASTM D2240 |
| Impact Resistance | 160+ in-lb | ASTM D2794 |
| Abrasion | 22 mg loss | ASTM D4060 |
| Water Absorption | 0.029% | ICC-ES AC-39 |
| In plain English: at 0.029 percent absorption, spills sit on the surface and wait for the mop. Tested at Ramtech Laboratories, report 4501-A. | ||
| Crack Bridging | 3/32 in | AC308 Appendix A |
| TVOC | Under 0.04 mg/m3 | CDPH v1.2 |
| Application | Seamless fluid-applied flooring, poured and hand-finished in place | CSI 09 67 00 |

Quiet, by configuration.
Impact sound is a property of the whole floor assembly, so we publish Impact Insulation Class by configuration instead of hiding behind a single number.
Most building codes require a minimum of IIC 50. FlowStone meets code on every configuration tested, on wood-frame and concrete assemblies alike. Where the brief calls for quieter, acoustic mats raise ratings into the luxury tier of IIC 60 to 69 and the ultra tier of IIC 70 and above.
| Substrate Configuration | FlowStone IIC | With Insulation |
|---|---|---|
| Wood frame + 1/2 in magnesium cement board | 50-54 | 55-59 |
| Wood frame + 3/4 in magnesium cement board | 52-56 | 57-61 |
| Wood frame + 3/4 in gypsum concrete (bare) | 53-57 | 58-62 |
| Wood frame + 3/4 in gypsum concrete + 1/8 in acoustic mat | 63-67 | 68-72 |
| Wood frame + 3/4 in gypsum concrete + 3/8 in acoustic mat | 67-71 | 72-76 |
| Wood frame + 1 in gypsum concrete (bare) | 55-59 | 60-64 |
| Wood frame + 1 in gypsum concrete + 1/8 in acoustic mat | 65-69 | 70-74 |
| Wood frame + 1 in gypsum concrete + 3/8 in acoustic mat | 69-73 | 74-78 |
| Bare concrete, 7 to 8 in slab (high rise) | 50-55 | 54-59 |

Where it belongs. And where it does not.
A system worth specifying tells you its limits before your inspector does.
Approved substrates
- Prepared concrete, mechanically ground to profile
- Gypsum concrete with proper surface preparation
- Wood subfloors with magnesium cement board underlayment
All substrates must be structurally sound, clean, and free of contaminants, with moisture within manufacturer specifications.
Honest limitations
- Install between 40°F and 100°F, held for 48 hours before, during, and 48 hours after installation
- Not for exterior use or areas of constant water submersion
- Minimum concrete age of 28 days, free of curing compounds and sealers
Unsure whether your assembly qualifies? Send the detail through spec assistance and we will tell you straight.
From slab to showpiece.
The typical timeline for a standard apartment unit of 800 to 1,500 square feet. One step per day.
Surface Preparation and Crust
Day one. The floor is mechanically ground clean with HEPA-filtered equipment, then the proprietary Crust base coat is troweled down in one continuous operation.
Crust Finish and Color
Day two. After overnight cure the base is refined, then the reactive Color coat is applied in fine misted passes until the depth is right. This is the hand-finished pass that makes every floor an original.
Clear and Final Inspection
Day three. The high-performance Clear coat locks in the finish, and the floor is inspected and approved.
Cure times: light foot traffic 24 hours after the final sealer, full occupancy 72 hours after the final sealer. Lower temperatures and higher humidity extend cure times.
